Training Log: Rest

If you happen to read my training log, you’ve likely noticed that I have not been posting for a week. I had last week off and took a week off lifting as well; the body needed rest.

It was great to have a week off mentally, and physically. Spent a lot of time with my wife and son; did a few things that I think qualify as a bit of excercise. Went for a few bike rides; my son is learning to ride without training wheels (good cardio running behind him to make sure he doesn’t fall.) Swimming, park, soccer, and other adventures.  Had a lot of fun.

Now that I’ve been away from training I am really looking forward to tomorrow. I start my 11th cycle of 5/3/1 and cannot wait to be deadlifting in the morning. Here’s a link to the new log spreasheet: http://bit.ly/KP-531-cycle11. I bumped up deadlifts & bench press, but felt I should leave military press & squat at the same numbers.  I’m also planning to change up the assistance work and will log that as the week progresses.

Training Log: Squat

Shoulder stretch, foam roller, leg stretch with bands

Warm up sets

Working sets:

355 x 5

400 x 3

450 x 1 *PR

460 x 0 *missed

Foam roller

Had a good morning hitting a new PR. Also bumped it up after, but missed 460. No worries, satisfied with 450. I do need to worry more about hitting depth. Always feel like I need about another inch or two. Planning to work on box squats and front squats as assistance on the next cycle to help with depth and posture.

Next week deload, then considering a week off to relax and fully recover.
